Wayne A. Storey, Sr.

The Reverend Wayne A. Storey, Sr., 87, of Watertown, passed away May 24, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by his family.

Rev. Storey was born August 25, 1938, in Potsdam, NY, son of Burton and Beatrice (Hamlin) Storey. He gradated from Watertown High School and attended Potsdam State University for a short time. He entered the United States Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1962. On June 25, 1960, He married Elizabeth A. Casswell at Trinity Episcopal Church.  He and his wife enjoyed spending winters in New Port Richey, FL. Mrs. Storey died October 31, 2016.

Rev. Storey owned and operated Storey Publishing House. He was previously employed with the Watertown Daily Times in the Printing Department, was an apprentice electrician for the NYS Power Authority and was the Layout Manager for the Penny Saver.

Rev. Storey was ordained a Priest on June 16, 2007, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Watertown, NY. He has served in various churches in the area, including Emmanual Episcopal Church in Adams, St. Lukes Chapel in Henderson and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Black River.

Rev. Storey was a volunteer for Samaritan Medical Center and sang in the Barbershop Choir during the 1970’s.

He is survived by a son, Wayne A. (Renee) Story, Jr., Watertown, a daughter, Martha (Dan) Fulton, Carthage, his companion, Jen Brown, Watertown, three grandchildren, Katie (Todd) Thomas, Great Bend, Samantha (Mike) Sumner, Crescent City, FL, Taylor Storey, Sol Korea, two great grandchildren, Gavin and Kyla Jo, several nieces and nephews. A grandson Joe Fulton, two brothers and three sisters all died before him.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11 am at Trinity Episcopal Church with a reception to follow. Burial will be held at the convenance of the family in Sanford Corners Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 39 E Church Street, Adams, NY 13605.
