Virginia Barbara Obituary

Virginia T. “Ginny” Barbara, 82, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at SUNY Upstate.

 

Ginny was born March 7, 1942, daughter of Emil "Bob" and Mary C. (Surace) Barbara. She attended Watertown High School and later Jefferson Community College.

 

While living in Hubbardston, Massachusetts, she was a secretary for the Massachusetts State Police. After moving back to Watertown, she was employed with St. Regis Paper Company and later with Black Clawson in Accounts Payable & Receivables, ultimately retiring in the late '90s.

 

Ginny was a former communicant of St. Anthony’s Church before moving to Liverpool, volunteering at the Mt. Carmel Fest and the Thursday night spaghetti suppers to assist her Mother Mary and Aunt Margaret when she wasn't working late. Ginny was also an avid reader of mystery novels which she would enjoy relaxing with a cup of warm hazelnut coffee.

 

Surviving are a son Joseph (Pat) Fucile, Minnesota, and daughter, Krista (Bruce) Haskins, Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren Jessica Fucile and Julia Overby, and great-grandchildren Gavin Startzel and Jameson Sessions, several nieces and nephews. Three brothers Frank J., Lawrence A., and Michael A., are all predeceased.

 

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-6pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church and burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be held at a later date.
