Victor Lee Brown, 77 of Belleville, NY died February 21, 2024, while visiting family in Silver Springs, Florida.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Belleville Fire Hall, Belleville, NY on March 16th from 1-5pm.
Victor was born on March 10, 1946, in Terre Haute, IN, a son of Lee and Margery (Shurtleff) Brown.
Surviving is his wife March of 48 years, a son and his wife, North (Denise) of Belleville, NY and a daughter and her husband Vicki (Ronald) Whitney of Adams, NY. Eight grandchildren- Ryan Brown and fiancée Pamela Le, Jarred Brown, Katy Bisesi, Cheyenne Dukes, Reagan Whitney, Landon Whitney, Ella Wainwright, Trey Wainwright, two great grandsons- Jayden Brown and Cayden Taylor.
He is also survived by his brother Fred (Deb) Brown of The Colony, Texas.
Nieces- Tina (Frank) Newton and children of Adams Center, Dawn (Tim) Beach and children of Sackets Harbor.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, F. Esther Winnett and a nephew , Joshua Beach.
He graduated from Adams Center-Adams Central School on June 24, 1963. He enrolled in JCC and graduated in June 1967 with two Associates Degrees.
He joined the Navy in April 1967 and deferred for two months to finish college. He served four years, was sent to Vietnam after basis training and was honorably discharged in December 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon.
After returning home he worked several jobs and worked for Grand Union as Produce Manager in Adams and met March in February of 1972 and they married May 11, 1975 in Belleville, NY.
Vic worked at Rod’s Big M in Adams and leaving there to work at the NY Air Brake as a buyer. He later took a job at Fort Drum Ammo Supply and retired from there.
Vic enjoyed bowling and he and March belonged to the Snowflake Co-Ed League for many years. He enjoyed his retirement and in the last few years they spent part of the winter in Florida visiting Merle and Jean Reynolds (March’s brother) and vacationing with March’s sister Sparrow and Richard Kraemer. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donations in Victor’s name can be made to the Watertown SPCA. Information provided by D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.
