Scott J. Wormwood, 45, of Watertown, passed away April 22, 2026 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by his family.
Scott was born March 3, 1981 in Carthage, son of Edward J and Deborah (Weatherhead) Wormwood, Jr. He graduated from Beaver River Central in 2000, where he holds titles in swimming and track. He entered the United States Army in 2000, serving in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged in 2005.
On November 11. 2022 he married Melanie S. Magaoay near Braiser Falls in Lewis County.
Scott was a maintenance planner for Knowlton Bros. Technology and previously owner and operated Wormwood Lumber Co.
Scott loved music, was a DJ and was always working on his music and speakers. He had his CDL license and loved to drive big vehicles. Scott was an outdoorsman. One of Scotts favorite pastimes was spending time outdoors with his Dad hunting, building things with his sawmill, riding 4 wheelers, listening to music and jamming around the bon fire.
He is survived by his wife Melanie, his father, Edward (Sandra) Wormwood, Jr., Three Mile Bay, his mother, Deborah Weatherhead, Croghan, three children, Harper and Grayson Wormwood, Kiara Ruiz, a brother Edward (Barbara) Wormwood III, South Mills, SC, a sister, Elyse (Jeremy) Maes, Charolette, NC, step sister, Sara( Michael) Schimpff, a step brother, Matt (Kim) Marcinko, and a nephew, Bishop Weatherhead, Greenwood, SC.
A funeral mass will be held May 9, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Church at 11 am. Followed by a luncheon in Msgr. Sechi Hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish (the combine parishes of St. Anthony’s Church, St. Patrick’s Church and Holy Family Church. 123 So. Massey Street, Watertown, NY 13601
