Robert L. Mills, 85, formerly of Watertown, passed away May 30, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida.
Bob was born May 7, 1939, in Watertown, son of C. Allen and Muriel (Desormeau) Mills. He attended Watertown High School, earning his High School Equivalency Diploma in 1962.
On December 7, 1964, he married Isabelle A. Rutigliano at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Mills died January 9, 2024.
Bob served in the United States Marines from 1958 until 1961. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1968, transitioning in the US Air Force Reserves upon his honorable discharge from regular service.
Bob was an Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Watertown, until his retirement in 1999.
After Bob retired, he and Izzy split their time between their cottage on Three Mile Point and their home in Melbourne, Florida, where they lived for more than twenty years.
Surviving are two sisters and a brother-in- law, Dolores Signor and Mary (Tony) Soluri all of Watertown, many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Eugene “Jerry” Mills, Charles Mills, a sister Arlene Mills, died before him.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 12th at 11 am in Glenwood Cemetery.
