Richard Walter “Rick” Martin, Jr., 69, of East Bradenton, Florida, formerly Watertown, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Samaritan Summit Village.
Rick was born December 20, 1948, in Watertown, son of Richard W. and Sally Hutchins Martin, Sr. In 1968, he graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy and then attended Jefferson Community College. He married Margaret Ann “Peggy” Byrne on April 4, 1970 at Holy Family Church. Peggy died June 23, 2014.
Rick began Martin Dental Studio in 1974, joined by his brothers Tom and Steve, then later by his son Brian. Shortly after the death of his wife, he worked part time until his retirement in 2016. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, a member of Ives Hill Country Club for many years, and loved to play golf, boating, and enjoyed sports. In his later years he often met with friends at the American Legion.
He is survived by his sons: Brian (Tina), Black River, NY, Jeff (Shelly), Fairfax, VA, Kevin, Seneca Falls, NY, grandchildren: Kayleigh, Kyle, Joselyn, Hailee, Colin, Emma, and Nolan, brothers: Jack (Bambi), Thomas, Stephen (Robin), sisters: Victoria “Vicki” LaBreck and Stephanie Shannon, sister-in-law: Barb Byrne, and brother-in-law: Jerry Mulcahy.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11 am at the funeral home with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
