Richard W. Fulkerson

Watertown, NY - Richard W. Fulkerson, 89, NYS Rt 37, Watertown, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on Tuesday morning at Samaritan Hospital. 

   Richard was born in Lafargeville to parents Helen P. (Shulz) and Howard W. Fulkerson. He graduated from Lafargeville High School class of 1951. He married Clara Pete on April 1, 1956 in the Theresa Methodist Church. Richard worked at Sears Roebuck for 36 years, retiring as the manager of the catalog department. Richard was extremely hardworking, but his best work was his children and loves Linda, Ricky and Lori.  He devoted much of his time to them taking them camping, riding bikes, playing tennis, playing games and walks in the woods. He was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors. He will be deeply missed. 

  Richard loved going on adventures first with his children and then his grandchildren. If he didn't know the answer to a question they asked, he would make up something quite believable. One time he even convinced one of his granddaughters that a pile of sticks on top of a hill was a beaver hut. His daughters frequently accompanied him on his daily bike ride on the Black River Trail until this past fall when the weather turned too cold to ride. He was always grateful when he had time with his family. He would say many times after Clara's passing that he didn't know what people without children do. 

Richard is survived by his daughters Linda (Brad) Remington, Lori (Toby) Woodard, grandchildren Megan Remington, Katelyn (Carlos) Remington Arata, Travis (Kat) Woodard, Rebecca Remington, Ashley (Dakota Shaffer) Woodard, his great grandchildren Sophia Nicholson and John Woodard, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years Clara (Pete) Fulkerson,  beloved son, Ricky Fulkerson, his parents, and sister Esther Frederick. 

A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery for family at the convenience of the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the North Pole Fire Department, 22334 US Rt. 11 Watertown, NY 13601.
