Randy A. Colligan, 67, of Davidson Street, Watertown, passed away November 7, 2024 at home under the care of his loving family.
Randy was born March 30, 1957 in Watertown, son of Hugh E. and Arlene M. (Gibson) Colligan. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1976. On October 7, 2007 he married Sherri L. Wisner in Lake Placid, NY. Randy was a merchandiser for Coca Cola and then worked part time for #1 Speed and Auto.
Randy's first true love was Kart Racing, which he did for over 54 years. The American Kart Racing Association values Spirit and Intent, something Randy embodied throughout his entire racing career and encouraged in his competitors. He truly was an influential part of the racing community. He raced in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Canada and locally in New York State, amassing 100’s of trophy’s and numerous championships, his most recent the 2023 Moose Mountain Championship. In 1990, he won the Kart Races in the streets of Clayton, even after he flipped his kart. Most Friday nights, you'd find Randy at Brewerton Speedway cheering on his favorite driver, Bob McCreadie, who was a mentor to the Northside crew. Randy was always the first to show up to help and was a highly respected, loyal friend. He had the gift of gab and never knew a stranger. Randy and Sherri enjoyed cruising the Bahamas with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all, his chocolate lab, Champ.
Randy’s family would like to thank the nurses at the Samaritan Infusion Center and the staff at the Integrative Medicine of Central New York for the kindness and care they gave to Randy.
Randy is survived by his wife Sherri, three daughters, Sarah Colligan, LeRay, NY, Lisa (Jack) Meeks, LeRay, NY, Kaelee (Benjamin) Roggie, Carthage, and a son, Michael McCormick, Ft. Campbell, KY. He and Sherri shared five grandchildren, Collin, Chloe, Sofia, Maverick, and Reese.
A private Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. Online condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com
