Patsy L. Chiumento, 93, of Calcium, died September 28, 2018, at his home, where he lived with his daughter, Judy Spencer.
Mr. Chiumento was born October 28, 1924, in Woburn, MA, son of Frank and Laura Tancreti Chiumento. He attended local schools and married Mary M. Latona, on April 5, 1954, in Ventnor City, New Jersey. Mrs. Chiumento died May 11, 2008.
Mr. Chiumento enlisted in the United States Army on April 12, 1943. During WWII and Korea; he served with the 504th Airborne Infantry Medical Company and during the Vietnam War served in Thailand, with Headquarters Company 538th Engineering Battalion. Mr. Chiumento was a recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor. His twenty four year career included many duty stations including Fort Drum. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He enjoyed gambling; especially cards games, hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Chiumento is survived by two sons and their wives, John (Kathy), Olive Branch, Miss. Frank (Amy), Watertown, a daughter, Judy Spencer, Calcium, nine grandchildren, a sister Anita Chiumento Parish, Watertown, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a close family friend Ralph Soluri, Watertown. A brother John, three sisters, Toni Rhynhart, Rose Wolf, Carmella Stellar and a son in-law, George Spencer (January 2018) all died before him.
Calling hours will be Wednesday at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home with Rev. Christopher Looby officiating.
