Patrick M. McDermott, 70, of Charles Street, passed away at his home on June 1, 2019.
Pat was born October 24, 1948 in Watertown, son of Charles E. and Doris E. “Betty” Anderson. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1966, attended Jefferson Community College and graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Education.
On August 14, 1971, he married Christine A. Staie, the love of his life, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Benoit Dostie officiating. Christine died July 21, 1988.
Pat was employed in the hardware department of Home Depot until his retirement in 2016. Previously he was a quality control officer for Fisher Cast Corp. and New York Air Brake Co. for forty years. He was a former member of Holy Family Church and served in the United States Reserves.
Pat was proud to be a founding member, along with Pete Gaskin, of the Jefferson Community College Lacrosse Club. Pat enjoyed collecting coins and sports collectables, attending concerts, games: especially Trivial Pursuit, was a Boston Red Sox fan, a Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed spending time with his grand-kids and grand puppies.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Gregory J. and Amanda, Watertown, three grandchildren, Kaylynn, Kallie and Kenzie, siblings, Robert E. McDermott, Watertown, Bruce A. McDermott, LaFargeville, Nancy (Gary) Davis, LaFargeville, Mollie (Floyd) Field, Canton. Margaret McDermott, Watertown. His parents and siblings Frederick P. in 1999, Charles N. in 2015, Kathleen Brown in 2007 and Mary McDermott as an infant, all died before him.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. a prayer service will be Friday at 10 am at the funeral home with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Donation Center, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73101.
