Katey M. Blodgett, 70, of Adams Center, passed away at home on November 18, 2023 under the care of her husband Malcolm.
Katey was born on April 17, 1953, in Gouverneur, daughter of Charles and Louise (Strate) McCracken. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and Canton ATC, receiving her Registered Nursing degree. On August 18, 1979, she married Malcolm Blodgett at Malcolm’s family cottage on the St. Lawrence River.
Katey was a charge RN for the Medical Surgery Floor at Mercy Hospital for several years, then becoming a private duty nurse. For eight years, she was a bartender for Dragon Lords Pub in Adams Center before her retirement. Katey enjoyed gardening; her wild roses were a favorite. She also spent time digging up artifacts in the families back yard, finding old apothecary bottles and glass milk jugs from old dairy farms in the area.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter Melissa Ann Logan, her husband Vincent and their son Malcolm Vincent, all of Bluffton, SC. Katey was one of 14 children, surviving siblings are Elizabeth Marcellus, Ted McCracken, David McCracken and Penny Watson.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 2 pm – 5 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be Monday at 10 am in Union Cemetery, Adams Center, NY.
