Joseph Erdner Obituary

Joseph O. Erdner, 82, of Seymour Street, went to be with the Lord, March 9, 2018, at his home under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and his loving children.

Joseph was born August 20, 1935, in Pittsburg, PA, a son of Joseph and Clara Masko Erdner. In 1954, he graduated from North Catholic High School in Pittsburg. He entered the United States Air Force after high school and after serving many duty stations he ended up at Dry Hill, NY. For thirty five years, he worked at Niagara Mohawk where he was a lineman foreman. He married Loretta Bocciolatt on August 18, 1956, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Reverend Joseph Francor officiating.

Joseph was a devout catholic, attending weekly mass. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Holy Name Society and volunteered for activities within the parish. He enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. He enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and as he said "keeping his mind sharp" with crossword puzzles.

Surviving are four children, Michael (Sue) Erdner, Adams, NY, Kathy Mancini, Watertown, NY, Jim (Cheryl) Erdner, Huntsville, Alabama, Paul (Terri) Erdner, Watertown, NY, a brother David (Joyce) Erdner, Pittsburg, PA, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his wife Loretta, his daughter Jan Marie, his parents Joseph and Clara, two sisters Jean and Roseanne, and a brother William.

The services will be private, at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601. Condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com
