John was born August 4, 1951, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Brenda Pignone. He was a resident of the ARC of Jefferson- St. Lawrence. He moved to the agency in 1974 at IRA 4 on State Street. He attended Day Treatment with the agency until 2010, when it was converted to Day Habilitation. In September, he moved to IRA 301in Dexter due to medical decline, but made this place his home making connections with many of the staff and giving them his loving nicknames.
John was a man of few words, but those he had were strong words, doing things his own way every time. He was going to do what he wanted, when he wanted. John enjoyed being outside, enjoying fresh air, car rides, the beach or the front porch. He also enjoyed going out to eat at several restaurants, but his favorite was going to get ice cream.
He always gave people that he was the closes to nicknames, and that was the way staff knew they got his approval and trust.
John kept a close relationship with his mother until her passing. He called her “Bumblebee”. He also had a close relationship with his room supervisor, Lisa.
