Joan M. Gokey

Joan M. Gokey, 88, passed away on Friday morning, January 10, 2025. She retired in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was born January 26, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of Walter and Eileen Groszewski.

She graduated from Watertown High School. Joan married John Gokey, Sr. Mr. Gokey died December 7, 2010.

They had seven children, John Gokey Jr., Watertown, New York, Jeff Gokey (Jennifer) Watertown, New York, Mike Gokey (deceased October 4, 2022), William Gokey, Daytona, Beach, FL. Three daughters Julie Holman (Chaz), Pillar Point, NY, Jill Gokey, Daytona, FL, Joni Kurtz, Daytona Beach, FL., fifteen grandchildren and twenty- one great grandchildren,

three brothers Ronald (Beryle) Groszewski Watertown, NY, Kenneth (Flor) Groszewski , CA, Gerald (Ellen) Groszewski , New Jersey. A sister Ann Shirley Groszewski is predeceased.

Joan enjoyed bowling, reading, puzzles, gardening, and was an active member of YMCA. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, enjoyed cooking, and making sure all the neighborhood kids were taken care of.

A celebration of life will be held both Daytona Beach, FL and Watertown, NY, at a later time.
