Jeffery H. Derouin

Jeffery Hugh Derouin, 78, of Sackets Harbor, NY, passed away December 26, 2025 at Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Jeffery was born on October 8, 1947 in Watertown, NY son of James Henri and Wava A, (Carpenter) Derouin, Sr. Jeff attended Sackets Harbor Central School, where he enjoyed playing sports with his brothers, Jean and Joel. Jeff enlisted in the United States Army in 1966, serving as a military police officer and remained active until his discharge in 1969. One of Jeffery’s proudest accomplishments was serving in the army alongside his brother, Jean, during the Vietnam conflict.

Jeff was always a dedicated community member. He served as the Village Police Chief for many years and as a correction’s officer with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s department. 

Jeffery retired from being a self-employed contractor and was the owner of Jeff Derouin Masonry. He was instrumental in the construction of the Village of Sackets Bandstand.  

Jeffery was a distinguished football player for the Watertown Red and Black for several years. Again, playing alongside his brothers, Jean and Joel. 

Jeffery was an avid outdoorsman and of one his greatest passions was hunting, especially with his nephews and friends.  

Surviving are his daughter Anna (Hunter) Harper, Clarksville, TN, two sisters, Joyce H. (Richard) Pietroski and Jennifer H, Derouin, both of Sackets Harbor, two grandchildren Evan A. Owens, Emma J. Harper, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his four brothers, James H. Derouin, Jr., Jon H. Derouin, Jean H. Derouin, Joel H. Derouin, two sisters, Joan H. Derrigo and Jacqueline H. Marino.

A private military burial will be held in the spring at the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery. Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral, Inc. Online condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com.
