Jeanette Wisner Obituary

WATERTOWN, N.Y. - Jeanette E. Wisner, 84, of Watertown passed away on Sunday September 29, 2024 at the Hospice residence, following a courageous cancer journey.

Jeanette was born on July 7, 1940, in Watertown, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Pacific Crescenzi. She grew up in a loving family and attended Immaculate Heart Academy, where she completed her education in 1959.  After high school, Jeanette married Paul Wisner Sr. on November 11, 1962. Together, they built a family and welcomed four children: Paul Jr.,  Jeffrey, Samuel and Shane.

Jeanette was more than just a mother; she was a talented and passionate crafter.  She owned and operated her own business, J-Wisner Crafts, where she shared her creative spirit with the community. She began her career in retail working at Hills, Ames and Big Lots.  Her work family became an essential part of her life, where she formed lasting friendships and memories.

One of Jeanette's most cherished family traditions was making homemade pasta and Italian cookies. During the Christmas season, her family members and loyal customers eagerly anticipated these delicious treats. Jeanette's ability to bring joy through her cooking and crafting left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Jeanette found joy in the thrill of BINGO, often spending her evenings at the local hall where the excitement of calling out numbers filled the air. She cherished her casino trips with her late mother and sister-in-law, Janet Wisner. However, nothing brought her more happiness than the game nights she organized with her cousin Bonnie Perrin. These nights were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the warmth of friendship, as they played various card games and shared stories over snacks. For Jeanette, these activities were not just pastimes; they were special moments that connected her to the community and created lasting memories with those she loved.

Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Mary (Pacific) Crescenzi, as well as her husband, Paul Sr., her brother Angelo Crescenzi, as well as her son, Paul Wisner Jr.  Jeanette is survived by her three sons: Jeffery (Tina) Wisner, Sackets Harbor; Samuel Wisner, Watertown; and Shane (Rachel) Wisner, Glen Park. She also leaves behind her brother Rocco (Sharon) Crescenzi, Watertown; as well as her sister Kathie Crescenzi, Watertown. Her legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In the face of life's challenges, Jeanette's sons would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to their Aunt Kathie Crescenzi for her unwavering support. Kathie played a vital role in caring for Jeanette, accompanying her to appointments, and providing comfort during difficult times. The family also extends their appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Walker Cancer Treatment Center, the 5th floor staff at Samaritan Medical Center, the 2nd floor staff at the Samaritan Keep Home and the Hospice staff for their kindness and support throughout this journey.

Jeanette’s life was filled with love, creativity, and family. Her memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones and the community she touched through her crafts and traditions.

In keeping with Jeanette’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral service.  There will be a celebration of life at the Sackets Harbor American Legion on October 20, 2024 from 1-4 PM.  Please come and celebrate Jeanette, share a story or a fond memory.  Everyone is welcome.
