Jean T. Jacob, 86, Watertown, died January 26, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center following a fall at her home.
Jean was born September 5, 1937, in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, a daughter of Frank and Mary Cardaropoli Esposito. She graduated from high school in Glendale, California and after receiving her teaching degree, was certified to teach grades K-12 in California. In her life-long career of 43 years of teaching, she taught in California, Arizona and (West) Germany. She married Ronald Jacob on December 20, 1980, in the chapel at the Twenty Nine Palms Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in California. After Ronald left the Marine Corps, the couple settled in Ansbach Germany where Jean taught at Bleidorn/Rainbow Elementary school for the Department of Defense School System for twenty years. She taught in the primary grades, preferring 2nd and 5th grades, but also taught the TAG (Talented and Gifted) and was the school’s science coordinator. When she retired in 2002, the couple moved back to Watertown and Jean volunteered at local schools’ reading programs. She continued her life-long vocation of educating children until the Pandemic.
Jean loved the Boston Red Sox and any team that beat the Yankees. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries. She loved dogs and “tolerated” her husband’s cats.
