Domenica Romeo Pecori, 84, Limerick, passed away February 4, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center with her family by her side.
Mrs. Pecori was born May 16, 1939, in Reggio, Calabria, Italy, a daughter of Natale and Paola Barreca Romeo. Mrs. Pecori graduated from high school and received her teaching degree in Italy. She married Henry R. Pecori April 9, 1961, in Reggio Calabria, Italy. In 1967, Henry was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in California, the couple moved to Watertown. Mrs. Pecori and her husband owned and operated the Limerick Hotel for over fifty-one years. Mrs. Pecori enjoyed gambling at the casino, traveled to Italy with family to see her relatives in Italy, Canada, France and Switzerland, reading, cooking, playing cards with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Mimma, as her family called her, was a very dedicated, caring, warm, loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Lisa M. Pecori, Frances A. Murtha both of Watertown, two sons, Andrew R., Syracuse, Henry P. Watertown, two sisters, Lucia Romeo Pellegrino, Francesca Romeo Gangemni both of Italy, two sisters-in-law, Georgina Pecori, Syracuse, NY, Rosemarie Steadman, Corona, CA several nieces and nephews, two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole (Gabriel) May, Brownville, Nicholas J. Murtha, Watertown and a soon to be great grandson, Jackson Andrew May. A brother Joseph Romeo as an infant, a sister Giuseppa Romeo and a son-in-law, Jeffrey Allen Murtha, died before her.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 4-7 at D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be Friday, February 9, 2024, at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass at Saint Anthony’s Church at 10am. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
