Darlene J. DiGregorio, 83, died on May 13, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born June 23, 1942, daughter of William Roy Scales and Alta (Adams) Scales Monforte. A graduate of Watertown High School, she also earned a teaching degree from Oswego State University.
On June 23, 1964, she married the love of her life, Joseph J. DiGregorio. After starting a family, she devoted her life to full-time motherhood.
Even though Darlene was not Italian, her delicious cooking would make you think otherwise. Gnocchi, ravioli, braciole and meatballs were some of her specialties and a labor of love for her family. She also took great lengths to make each birthday and holiday special. She was always in search of the perfect gift and would prepare a favorite meal and dessert to celebrate the occasion. It was a thoughtful and beautiful expression of how much she loved her family.
Darlene is survived by her four children, Gia Youngs, Dina DiGregorio, Joe Jr. (Whitney) DiGregorio, Trina DiGregorio (Darla Blazey); three grandchildren, Joshua (Christina) Crossman, Dominic and Gabriella DiGregorio; one great granddaughter, Harlow Crossman, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her sister Judith Schwalm and brother Gerald Scales.
A private service with burial to follow will be held by the family. The family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York, www.alz.org/centralnewyork/about_us/contact/.us instead of sending flowers.
Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.
