Anita L. Dephtereos

A memorial service will be held for Anita L. Dephtereos on July 11 at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home in Watertown.  Calling hours will be at 10 am, followed by a memorial service at 11. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Mrs. Dephtereos, aged 95, died in Waterbury (CT) Hospital on March 27 after a short illness.  She lived in Heritage Village in Southbury, CT, was the widow of Leo O. Dephtereos, and was formerly of Watertown.

She was born on October 12, 1930 in Watertown, and was the daughter of Thomas and Henrietta Conners Lynch.  She graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy and attended University of Mount St. Vincent in Bronx, NY.  She married Mr. Dephtereos on March 17, 1951 in New York City.  They raised their five children in Watertown, where Mr. Dephtereos was involved in the management of the family business, the Crystal Restaurant.  He died in 1999, after which Anita moved to Southbury to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children: David (Marjorie), Wilton, CT; Julie Rockmore (Joseph), West Hartford, CT; Nancy Hancock (J. Vance), Easton, CT; Andrew (Pamela Thoma), Pullman, WA; and Philip (Lindee), San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews.

She was a volunteer at the Southbury Public Library Talking Books CT/CVSBH Inc. and she was active in the Southbury Senior Center.  She was also involved in the AARP Foundation Tax Aide Program and the League of Women Voters in both Southbury and Watertown.
