It is with extreme sadness that the family of Robert Charles “Bob” Kolb announces his passing after a long battle with an unexpected illness. Born in Somerville, NJ on January 2, 1961, to Paul and Lillian Ayers Kolb. Bob lived in New Jersey until his senior year in high school when his family moved to Northern New York, where he graduated from Carthage High School in 1979.
On March 14, 1987, Bob married the love of his life, Louine Skeldon. He loved to help people and was a captain at the Watertown Fire Department where he served for over thirty three years. He was a volunteer member of the Dry Hill Ski Patrol for over twenty years, and coached baseball and softball for his children’s youth teams.
Left behind is his wife of thirty one years, Louine Kolb, his three children, Jarrod, 29, of Watertown, NY, Nathan, 26, of Liverpool, NY and Olivia, 24, of New York, NY, whom he is very proud of, his brother William F., Claremont, FL, his sisters Beth (David) Cross. Great Bend, NY and Brett (Jody) Filiatrault, Carthage, NY.
Bob loved his life and had many friends and hobbies. He was a handy man who could fix anything. He especially enjoyed fixing up old cars and houses. Some of his favorite hobbies included camping and boating with his family, hunting, fishing, traveling, skiing, poker nights and playing guitar.
In the words of one of his favorite artists, Billy Joel, “Only the good die young”.
Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1pm at the funeral home with Fire Department Chaplin Reverend Leon VanWie officiating. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Bob’s Life at the American Legion Harold W. Townsend Post #1757, Sackets Harbor, NY. Please bring a dish to share.
