Minnie Habib Mathar

Minnie Habib Mathar, 100, Elm Street, Watertown, passed away August 4, 2018, at the home of her daughter, Toni Rezak, where she was being cared for by her family and Hospice of Central New York.

Mrs. Mathar was born September 10, 1917, in Rome, NY, daughter of Michael and Celia Elhage Habib. In 1935,she graduated from Watertown High School. She married Joseph G. Mathar November 28, 1937. Mr. Mathar died in 1967.

Mrs. Mather owned and operated Mathar Grocery Store on Morrison Street for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.

Surviving are, a son George (Donna) Mathar, Carthage, a daughter, Antoinette (Louis) Rezak, Syracuse, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Marion Mathar in 1990, two sisters and two brothers died before her.

An hour of calling will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, August 8, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am with Reverend Joseph Tandayu officiating.
