Henry Pecori Obituary

Henry R. Pecori, 88, three days before his 89th birthday, of Limerick , passed away, March 7, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

Mr. Pecori was born March 10, 1930 in Watertown, son of Paul and Addie Delano Pecori. He attended local schools and entered the United States Navy on December 9, 1947. Mr. Pecori served in the US Navy for twenty-one years, retiring in 1967 while stationed on the USS Ticonderoga in San Francisco, California.  Among his duties he was a fireman’s apprentice on an aircraft carrier, a boiler room technician and received many Good Conduct Medals. After returning home, he has owned and operated Pecori's Limerick Hotel and Restaurant with his wife and family for over 52 years until his passing.

On April 9, 1961 he married Domenica “Mimma” Romeo  in Reggio Calabria, Italy.

Mr. Pecori was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, a member of the American Legion Post #61 and the VFW Post #1400.

Surviving besides his wife are his four children, Lisa M. Pecori, Watertown, Frances A. Murtha, Watertown, Andrew R. Pecori, Syracuse and Henry P. Pecori, Watertown, a sister, Rosemarie Steadman, Corona, CA, two grandchildren, Ashley N. Murtha and Nicholas J. Murtha, both of Watertown, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving is his wife's family in Reggio Calabria, Italy.  A son-in-law Jeffrey Murtha died in 2009. Seven brothers, Paul, James, Frank, John, Joseph, Peter and Anthony, and four sisters, Frances Badalato, Amelia Sayyeau, Angeline Marconi and Lillian, as an infant died before him.

Hank took great pride and pleasure in baking his homemade rolls, meatballs, and all his Italian dishes for his customers. He was known for his many tales and stories and loved to make people laugh. His witt and wisdom was one of a kind. He also enjoyed tending to his vegtable garden every year and watching classic movies with his best friend Mike Huot. Most of all, Hank enjoyed spending time with his family.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4pm -7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held  Tuesday at 12:15 pm at the funeral home with a 1pm funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Christopher Looby and Reverend Donald Robinson con-celebrating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in the spring with military honors.
