Grace Squicciarini Obituary

Grace M. Squicciarini, 97, formerly of Sunset Ridge, passed away August 2, 2018, at the Samaritan Summit Village.

Grace was born May 28, 1921, in Watertown, daughter of Joseph and Pasqualina Signorelli Lettiere. She attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School. On June 28, 1941 she married Frank Squicciarini at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. James Quinn, assistant pastor, officiating. Mr. Squicciarini died August 11, 1985. Grace was employed with the Bagley Sewall Company and for thirty years was employed with Fachney’s which became Cheeseboro Ponds.

Fondly known to so many as “Aunt” Grace, she was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. She was a loving caregiver for many years to her mother until she passed in 1995, at age 99. She enjoyed cooking as well as dining out and took great pride in keeping a pristine home. She loved going to her niece’s hair salon each Thursday, joining in the laughter and conversation of all the girls. But her greatest love was her family. She was more than eager to give advice to each of them with the best of intentions, whether or not it was solicited. Her weekly calls to out-of-town family were expected as she was always checking on their health and well-being.

Aunt Grace is survived by her two brothers, John, Harrisville and William ( Rene) Lettiere, Melbourne, FL and two sisters, Angela (Nicholas) Bombardo, Leesburg, FL and Ann Conto, Watertown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Patty and John Spicer, Watertown, Michael and Kathy Lettiere, Sackets Harbor, Cathy and Gary Fayette, Harrisburg, NY,  Dominic and Patricia Squicciarini, Amityville, NY, as well as Lucy (Josef) Baier, Joseph Soares, Ann Marie (Thomas) McCann, Joseph (Patricia) Lettiere, James (Jeanette) Lettiere, Sandra Lettiere, Deborah (Steve) Davis, John (Jamie) Lettiere, Edward (Jan) Ward, Starlene (Ian) Hamilton, Carla (Wylie) Borum, James Bombardo, Rose Ann Baker, Michael, Patrick, John, Joseph, Mark, Julie and David Bombardo; Thierry Lettiere, Christina (Scott) Altenhof; Susan (Jeffrey) Hogancamp, Roberta Grassman, Patricia (Matt) Clark and Edward (Christine) Conto.

Grace is predeceased by a twin brother, James, in infancy, as well as her brothers, Angelo, James V, Frank and Carl Lettiere.

The family would like to express their thanks to Julie for helping Aunt Grace with her weekly household chores and cooking, as well as to the third floor nursing staff at Summit Village for their kind and compassionate care, especially Sharon, Shauna and her physical therapist, Kelly.
