Catherine G. Grant, of Boyd Street, passed away June 23, 2019 at Hospice of Jefferson County, after a brief battle with cancer.
Cathy was the fifth child of George and Maria Patterson Gracey, born in Watertown. She graduated from General Brown High School and attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the Agricultural Insurance Company and Black Clawson Paper Machine Company. Cathy retired from Fort Drum in 2011 after thirty-three years of service as an Information Technology Specialist.
Cathy enjoyed visiting the casinos, card making, gardening, horticulture, traveling, and visiting family in Idaho. She was an active member of FEW (Federal Employed Women) organization.
Surviving are a son Matthew (Margaret) Grant, Watertown, two daughters, Nicole (Barnie Jobson) Grant, Charleston, SC, Alexandra (Monty) Prow, Meridian, ID, three sisters, Anna Huot, Ogdensburg, Dorothy ( John) Lehr, Watertown, , Mary Tinney, Canandaigua, two brothers, James (Linda) Gracey, Doug and Judy Gracey, all of Dexter, six grandchildren, Daniel (Katelynn Shannon) Grant, Abby Prow, Elyse Prow, Cole Grant, Emerald Johnson and Jovan Johnson, one great grandson, Evan Grant, several nieces and nephews. Her parents, a brother, Lawrence Gracey and a granddaughter Cierra Grant, who lived with her eight years, all died before her.
Cathy was very blessed with amazing lifelong friends, Ann Bezy, Joyce Pietroski, Terry Schneider and Barbara Giordanelli.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Friday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral mass at Holy Family Church with Reverend Jonas Tandayu officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
