1938 - 2016

Timothy R. O’Brien, 78, So. Ontario Drive, passed away August 24, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family.

Tim was born May 20, 1938, in Watertown, a son of Harold T. and Frances C. Pepper O’Brien. He attended Watertown High School and Mohawk Community College. In 1964, he married Barbara J. Clark. For eleven years Tim served with the United States Army Reserve, honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. Tim was employed with the Keebler Company, Best Foods Inc. and Ralston Purina Company as a salesman until 2000. He then became a real estate broker for several companies, retiring from Coldwell Banker in 2012.

Tim was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, a former member of the Watertown Elks Lodge #496, and  a member of the American Legion Post 61. Tim received several awards while a realtor at Prudential Reality. He was a member of the Watertown City Board of Assessment Review and served as Vice President during the 2003-2004 term for the Jefferson-Lewis County Board of Realtors, Inc.

Surviving besides his wife Barbara are two sons and their wives, Timothy and Michelle, Rochester, Thomas and Kathleen, Cicero, a daughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Christopher Hornbarger, San Francisco, CA., eight grandchildren, Jordan, Daniel, Aidan, Brandon, Hannah, John, Jacob and Sarah, several nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Sally P. Bocciolatt, M. Jane O’Brien and Ann F. Calarco, all died before him.

Tim, a kind and gentle soul, was proud of his Irish heritage. He was generous with charity, quietly religious and loved his wife and family.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral at St. Patrick’s Church with Reverend Donald A. Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow in Glenwood Mausoleum with military honors. Contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 123 So. Massey Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
