Matthew F. Kehoe

Matthew F. Kehoe

1990 - 2016

Matthew F. Kehoe, 25, of Gotham Street, passed away at home Saturday, February 27, 2016.

Matt was born September 19, 1990 in Watertown a son of Myron and Sherri Potter Kehoe, Jr. He was educated in Watertown Schools and attended Hudson Valley Community College.  Matt was a talented young man and at the time of his death was employed in a family property management enterprise in Troy, NY.  Matthew was a sweet and gentle soul who positively touched his family and many friends.  Unknown to his family Matt was fighting an addiction alone, and sadly Saturday he lost the fight. We urge parents to educate themselves about the terrible scourge that is killing our children.

Surviving besides his parents are two brothers and their companions: Myron C. III and Nicole Constance, Derrick J. and Heidi Hirschey; a sister and her companion: Melissa M. and Dominick Albanese, all of Watertown; maternal uncles: Wayne Potter, Steel and his wife Angie Potter, all of Watertown; an aunt: Cynthia and her husband Randy Lawrence, Florida; paternal uncles: Jeffrey P. and his fiancé Laurie McDonald-Besheone, Liverpool, Shawn P. and his wife Anne Marie, Cicero, NY; paternal great aunts: Joan Kehoe, Albany, NY, Sharon Kehoe, Brockport, NY, Korleen and her husband Ray Gould, Watertown, Delores Patterson, Troy, NY, Luann Kehoe, Oswego, NY; paternal great uncles: Paul and his wife Betty, Sodus, NY, Peter, Troy, NY, Dennis and his wife Karen, Newark, NY, two paternal great aunts; a nephew, Myron Charles IV, and many cousins. His paternal grandparents, Myron and Shirley Kehoe; maternal grandparents, Francis and Clara Potter; great uncles, William Kehoe and Kevin Kehoe; an aunt, Sherry A. Kehoe-Edick, all died before him.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral mass will be held Friday at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Church with Monsignor Robert J. Aucoin officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com.

My condolences to the entire family.  I knew Matt only for a short time over the past 5 years, working with him off and on.  He was a strong giant among his peers and his laughter and jokes will be surely missed.
Rest in peace young Matthew.  Your struggle is over. You will not be forgotten.

Condolences left by other guests:

To all of my family during this difficult time,

We have lost too many loved ones too soon. It gives me some comfort with the belief that they are all together but it’ll never be an easy thing to accept.

I’ll forever cherish the memories, laughs, and smiles that we’ve had - especially in these past two years constantly doing things together. I know you’re at peace now but that doesn’t keep me from wishing you were still here. I’m lucky to have you as a guardian angel. I love you cousin, a forever kind of love.

Lots of love to all of my family near or far during this difficult time.

Condolences left by other guests:

In letting others know what the cause of your sons’ death was, you
may help avoid this happening again. I had no idea my son was a
Heroin addict, I never noticed anything that would make me even
think it possible. I just happened to call him one day & his voice
was very low. It struck me as unusual so I said to my husband we
need to leave right now & find out what was going on. When I
entered his home he was lying on his couch crying. i asked what
was wrong & after more tears he told me he was an addict. He was
trying to stop the drug but his body was not. We got him help &
saved his life. My sincere condolences to Family & Friends.

To the Kehoe family I did not know Matthew but I went to school with and was friends with his Aunt Sherry and Uncle Jeff.  My Deepest Condolences to his family and friends.  Addiction is an evil thing that we are losing far too many young people to in watertown and elsewhere.

Sherri and family,
I am so sorry for losing Matt.  All addictions are so tough for everyone, especially individuals with self pride.  It is tough for them to open up and ask for help. Sherri unfortunately I will be in NYC for a NYSSA board meeting which I must attend.  My thoughts will be with you and if there is anything I can do please, please ask.
Take care my dear friend

I love that picture of Matt.  My husband and I met him through Cliff.  He was such a nice, kind and respectful young man.  In all the times I was around him working at Cliff’s, I never once heard him swear.  He also did work for us at our home with the same thoughtful and kind demeanor. That he is gone is unbelieveable to me and I can’t imagine the grief you feel.  I will miss him terribly and am so happy that we were able to have met and known him.

Condolences left by other guests:

To the family and friends of Matt:  I offer my deepest sympathy in the loss of such a wonderful man. I know this, because I work beside Amber Edick every day and have listened to her talk SO MUCH about him. She portrayed him to be a very fun & loving person and it breaks my heart to think he is gone at such a young age :-( My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you at this time. Please tell your loved ones how much they mean to you EVERY DAY….as tomorrow is not a promise.  <3

Condolences left by other guests:

I have known Matt since he was young. He grew up with my son Donny and Matt was around our house quit a bit. He was a good person. I REMEMBER THAT HE WOULD ALWAYS TAKE HIS SHOES OFF AT THE DOOR ! He was always polite to me. I was just chatting with him on facebook not that long ago to see how he was doing because I haven’t heard from him in a long time. He told me that he was in rehab and doing good. I explained to matt that when he got out, it wasn’t going to be easy because he has to cut off PEOPLE, PLACE’S AND THING’S. After all of that he wanted me to tell my son congrats on his new baby girl. My son is the one who called me all upset and told me about Matt. He live’s out of state and can’t be here. I’M GONNA MISS UR SMILE MATT AND YOUR LAUGH. YOU WERE WAY TO YOUNG TO BE TAKEN FROM YOUR PARENT’S, FAMILY AND FRIENDS. R.I.P. MATT, FLY HIGH WITH THE ANGELS. YOU MAY BE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. UNTIL I SEE YOU AGAIN.
