Martha E. Luciani, 70, of Franklin Street, Watertown, passed away October 27, 2017, at Samaritan Medical Center.

Mrs. Luciani was born November 12, 1946, in Saranac Lake, NY, daughter of Francis (Frank) and Eleanor Waterstraat Kiah. She graduated from St. Pius X High School in Saranac Lake, NY and attended Chrishelli Cosmetology School in Watertown. On April 12, 1969 she married Sabatino A. (Sam) Luciani at Holy Family Church with Monsignor William Argy officiating.

Mrs. Luciani retired from the Environmental Services Department of Mercy of Northern New York. Previously she was employed with Faichney Thermometer and Chesebrough – Ponds Manufacturing Company. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and an avid New York Yankee fan.

Surviving besides her husband are a son, Sabatino A. (Sam) Luciani II and his companion, Margaret Garrett, Vancouver, Washington, a daughter, Jennifer A. Luciani and her companion, Kolleen Bentivegna, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a brother, Patrick (Joan) Kiah, Saranac lake, NY, two grandchildren, Alex and Alicia Luciani, a great granddaughter, Valerie Luciani, several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, JoEllen as an infant and Mary Kains, died before her. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother, wife and friend, and for her wonderful sense of humor.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral mass at Holy Family Church with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Sam, i met Martha only once and liked her very much.  I am sorry that we did not have the opportunity to know her better.My thoughts and best wishes go to you as you enter another phase of your life.
