1960 - 2017

Mark A. Dietterich, 56, of Franklin St., Watertown, NY passed away Friday, May 12, 2017.

Calling hours will be held 4-7pm Thursday, May 18, at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home Inc., 135 Keyes Ave, Watertown, NY. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 19, at the funeral home with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Born May 18, 1960, in Watertown, son of Robert and Dorothy Bocciolatt Dietterich. He attended Ohio Street Elementary School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1978. Mark continued his education and graduated from North Alabama University in 1982 with a B.A. in Commercial Arts.

Mark was a graphic artist for the Watertown Daily Times, a Commercial Art instructor at the Cape Vincent Correctional Facility and most recently owned and operated Mark’s Graphics. He was also an accomplished musician having played with local band favorites Double Vision and Dynamics.

A marriage to Christine Valvo ended in divorce.

Surviving are two sons, Josh Dietterich, Watertown and Jordan Dietterich, Reno, Navada; three brothers, Robert and his wife Mary, Three Mile Bay, Gary and his wife Liz, Watertown and David and Jill Wheeler, Pillar Point. He is also survived by several, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles. Mark was predeceased by his parents.

Mark’s greatest joy in life was his two sons, bringing food to his parents and making people happy. He was truly a very talented and gifted person who will be greatly missed.

Many memories of Mark from our younger days. We both shared the love of the guitar from an early age. We played sports together, I can still remember the tree fort we built with the other kids in the neighborhood in the woods behind his Ohio Street home, a marvel for its time!
