1961 - 2017

Joseph S. Suschinski, Jr., 56, 375 N. Colorado Ave., lost his four year battle with cancer on March 26, 2017 at the Samaritan Medical Center, with his family by his side.

Joe was born March 10, 1961, in Watertown, a son of Joseph S. and Anna Mae Doty Suschinski, Sr. He received his GED from the University of Albany and at the same time was employed in his parent's business, Fuel and Supply in Sackets Harbor, NY until 1982, which was also the year he married Dianne K. Nelson. Although they divorced after 27 years, they became greater friends after and remained friends until the end. From 1983 until 1992 Joe was a Master Plummer working on Fort Drum. He then became self-employed until becoming a grounds keeper at Glenwood Cemetery. Due to illness Joe retired in 2014.

Joe was a life member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was a member, past treasurer, and events coordinator for STANA (Seaway Trail Area of Narcotics Anonymous). 

Surviving are a son Joseph (Michael) Suschinski, Sackets Harbor, NY, a daughter Erica, and her fiancé, Kyle Alcombrack, Watertown, two grandchildren Grace and Augustus. Brothers: David (Beverly), Summerfield, FL; Michael (Deborah), Rochester, NY; Terry, Tacoma, WA; Lee, Sumerduck, VA. Sisters: Joanne Smoot, Sumerduck, VA and Laura Suschinski, Arlington Heights, IL., and also several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Anna, and also a sister, Gail Frances Suschinski.

Calling hours will be Sunday 1-5 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc., with a Memorial Service to follow with Pastor Jeff Kimball officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
