Mrs. Storey was my kindergarten teacher in 1985.  She was such a lovely person who created a positive, wonderful and memorable first exposure to school for so many of us.  I have always thought that it was so neat that she had that name because she was just like someone out of a story book. It’s too bad that we can’t upload pictures because I have my kindergarten class picture with me that I’ve kept in a box of keepsakes for all of these years!  I’ve always been so grateful to her for having been so gentle and kind to me that first year (I was only four years old), which has stayed with my my entire life. Thank you, Mrs. Storey, for being such a light in this world to so many kindergarteners who had the luck of being assigned to your class over the years.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to Wayne and all the family. I taught with Liz in Brownville my first year of teaching and rode to school with her almost everyday. We were a few years apart but we both grew up at Trinity Church about the same time. She had one of the brightest smiles I had ever seen. You are in our prayers. Fondly, Diana and David Propeck

To Wayne and Family:

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I taught kindergarten with Liz at General Brown Elementary many years ago and we enjoyed numerous social activities with Wayne and Liz back then.  Wayne and Liz’s young daughter, Martha, was even a flower girl at our wedding, and so we have many fond memories of those wonderful years.

Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Storey was my 3rd grade teacher at General Brown Elementary in 1964-65 school year. She was a wonderful teacher and a warm, compassionate person.  One example that always stood out in my memory occurred when my Dalmatian puppy was struck and killed by a car one morning before school.  For some reason my mother felt I needed to go to school, even though I was grief stricken by the tragic loss of my dog.  Mrs. Storey hugged me after she read the note my mom had written.  She comforted me that day with such compassion. Somehow her strength and love got me through that day.  I never forgot that nor did I forget the wonderful year we all shared in her classroom.  I’ve thought of her so many times over the years.  Please know how much she was loved and admired by so many of her students.

Wayne,
I am so, so sorry to hear this news.  Whenever I think of Elizabeth, I think of a warm, compassionate, truthful person.  Doesn’t surprise me that she was a kindergarten teacher so so many years.
You’re both in my prayers at this time and, God willing, I’ll get to the service at Trinity.
If there’s anything that needs doing, please call or have a relative call (245-0731).
Love you,
Amy

Words cannot begin to describe my sadness upon hearing of Jid’s death. We were dear friends since childhoods. What solace I am getting is from the wonderful memories during our childhood and the continued closeness following her marriage to Wayne. I know the depth of my grief but can only imagine what Wayne, Martha, and Wayne as well as the grandchildren and brother Bob are feeling. My heart goes out to all of you. Remember the good times as I remember our long chat last Friday. May God be with you!
