1942 - 2016

Edith V. Sweet, 74, of Ridge Rd., Watertown, joined her beloved husband Earl, Sr., on September 14, 2016.

Edith was born June 16, 1942, in Gouverneur, NY a daughter of Ernest and Mildred McIntosh Clement. She attended high school  and on February 24, 1962, she married Earl E. “Red” Sweet, Sr. in Gouveneur, NY. For over forty years, she was a seamstress for Hana Sportswear in Dexter, NY. Edith enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Earl R. Jr., Watertown, a daughter, Vera (Russell) Beirman, Watertown, a brother, Richard (Pat) Clement, Gouverneur, three sisters, Mavis Sweet, Watertown, Mildred Church, Indiana, Shirley Moore, Hammond, four grandchildren, Amber (Anthony LePage) Sweet-LePage, Ashley Sweet and her companion Richard Blair, Alexandria Sweet, Roy Earl James Beirman and his companion Sadie Schultz, six great grandchildren, Lily Sunshine, Bella Grace, Marlee Ambrosia, Robert James, Maya Ashtyn, Aria Lynn, several nieces and nephews. A great grandchild, Jayden Scott, four brothers, Ronald, Donald, Ernest and Russell, all died before her.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of Edith’s life will be held at the Eagles Club, Outer Washington St., for all of her family and friends on Tuesday September 21st from 1-5 pm Contributions may be made to Renal Care of Northern New York, 19328 Washington Street, Watertown, NY 23601.
