Delvan E. Streeter

Delvan E. Streeter

1953 - 2016

Delvan E. Streeter, 63, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Country Manor Nursing Home in Carthage after a long battle with dementia and its effects.

Del was born on January 20, 1953 to Ralph and Phyllis (Paige) Streeter in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.  He left Vermont at age twelve and eventually moved to this area in his senior year of high school.  It was here at Indian River High School that he met Debra Augustine.  They were married on October 12, 1974.

Del worked in the business office at Watertown Correctional Facility, helped build decks and install pools over several summers, and for a short time worked behind the scenes at 7News.

Del loved his family, music, corny jokes, good food, and his family farm in Vermont.  He never had an unkind word for others, and no had an unkind word for him.

Besides his wife Debra, Del is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Bill Monroe of Dexter, NY and his son and daughter-in-law, Jordan and Amanda Streeter of Waterbury, VT.  He has four beautiful grandchildren, Nicholas, Alissa and Kaia Monroe and Owen Streeter.  He is also survived by a large extended family in both New York and Vermont who love him very much.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at  10 am at the funeral home with Reverend Leon Schilling officiating. Burial will be at the family’s convenience. Condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com

Condolences to the Streeter family.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family.  Psalms 147:3 says God, “heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds.”  May God bring you comfort and peace.

I’m so sorry to hear this news.  Although I didn’t know Del personally, I remember hearing his name while growing up, either from Mrs. Streeter during English class, or from Kathy who worked with my dad for years.  All I remember is that he seemed like a really fun, loving, wonderful guy.  I miss you all,  and you are in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope you all still had a Merry Christmas (and a Happy Birthday, Kathy.) Love, -Lisa

Debbie, So very sorry for your loss. We were quite surprised to say the least. Having moved from the area 10+ years ago and having lost touch, we were unaware of his struggles. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. We have fond memories of Halloween parties with you both at The Murrays. Take care of yourself.  Al & Vicki Nichols

You are in our thoughts and prayers. I grew up on stories of ‘Butch’. As I write this, I am reminded of the smile on Phyllis’s face as she so proudly spoke of her son. He was loved by many and admired by all.
