Betty Jane Henderson Calmer

1928 - 2107

Betty Jane Henderson Calmer, Dexter, NY died October 23, 2017, at River Lodge Nursing Home, Ogdensburg.

She was born May 25, 1928 in Carneys Point, New Jersey, a daughter of Carl Willis and Bertha Marie Andersen Henderson.  She resided in Philadelphia until age 7 when the family moved to Galesburg, Illinois.  After graduating from Galesburg High School, she was employed by The Galesburg Registered Mail.  She married Alden LaVerne Calmer August 20, 1950, and they raised their two children in the Galesburg area.  She later worked at Cottage Hospital and Monmouth College.  Researching and recording the family genealogy brought her many hours of pleasure.  She also enjoyed crocheting and visits with family and friends.  She moved to Watertown, NY in 1998.

She is survived by her daughter Andy Calmer Beasley (Gary) of Dexter, NY, a sister Thelma Whitman, St. Marie, Montana, a brother Carl W. (Darlene) Henderson, Sun City, Arizona and Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, three grandchildren, Christine (Scott) O’Riley, Sarah Crump and Nathan (Leslie) Beasley, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son. 

A graveside service will be held at a later date at the cemetery in Woodhall, Illinois. Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions may be made to charity of one’s choice.  Condolences may be made at dlcalarco.com

Andy,
I am sorry to learn of Betty’s passing.  I had the pleasure of working with her in Watertown last year.  What a wonderful, vibrant woman!  She will surely be missed by all who loved her.
