1929 - 2017

Ann Palumbo Dorr, passed away at her home in Watertown on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the age of 88.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond C. Dorr; their children and their families, Son Eric Dorr, his wife Sue, and their son, Brandon, of Tucson AZ.; Daughter Heidi Dorr, her husband Christopher White, and their daughter Hannah Dorr-White, of Montpelier VT and son, Damian Clopton, of Santa Rosa, CA.; and Son, Chris Dorr and his wife Susan, of Lake Oswego OR.

A celebration a life will be held in the spring/summer at a time convenient to the family (date to be announced).

Ann was born Anne Palumbo in Watertown to the late Anthony and Josephine Pucci Palumbo. She graduated from Watertown High School and lived for a number of years in the early 1950s with her husband, Ray, in Jacksonville NC and Quantico VA while Ray was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.  Anne enjoyed her work at Carolina Telephone and Telegraph as well as NY Telephone.

Ann and Ray moved back to Watertown to raise their family close to relatives. They spent many happy summers at their cottage in Campbell’s Point near Sackets Harbor, NY.  Ann was known as a vivacious, social person who had a sophisticated fashion sense and a zest for life.  She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, member of St. Patrick’s Church, and community member.  She volunteered at the Watertown Historical Society, the PTA, the YWCA, at the polling stations for Jefferson County Elections, and worked for a time at The Diet Workshop.  Early in Ann’s life she worked as a secretary for the then Mayor of Watertown, William G Lachenauer.

Ann is also survived by:
Sister Andriana Cavallario of Watertown, NY; brother Frank Palumbo and wife Mary Pat, of Washington, DC.; Sister Georgina Pecori, of Syracuse, NY; Brother-in-law Richard Dorr, of Watertown, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Ann is predeceased by her parents, by sisters Rosalie Cavise, Rosemary DelSignore, and Lucy Purpura, by her brother Carmen Palumbo.
