Albert M. Oddi, 91, of Ives Hill Retirement Community, Watertown, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Mr. Oddi was born December 26, 1924, in Philadelphia, NY, a son of Joseph and Maria Misercola Oddi. He graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy. From 1943 until 1945 he served in the United States Army with the 2nd Armored Division –RCN Co., 67th Armed Regiment. On October 10, 1948 he married Josephine I. Tauroney at St. Anthony’s Church with Msgr. Claude Sechi officiating. Mrs. Oddi died in 2008.

Mr. Oddi was repairman and car inspector for the NY Central Railroad- Conrail for thirty nine years retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church, a member of the 2nd Armored Division Association, the American Legion Post #61 and the VFW Post #1400.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and a brother, Anthony Oddi His wife Josephine, a brother, Orlando and a sister Angeline Ratigliano, died before him.

Al’s family would like to thank his caregivers, Liz, Christine and Wanda, their efforts allowed Al to stay in his home, as he wished.

Calling hours will be Monday July 11, 2016 from 4-6 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.  A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 10:15 am at the funeral home with an 11 am funeral mass at Holy Family Church with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors. Contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery, 400 Pratt Street, Watertown, NY 13601 or to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be made to www.dlcalarco.com.

Mr.Oddi was a very kind man. I met him at Ives Hill Retirement Community. He was always interested in Maps of the area. He was a very nice man, and I will miss him dearly.

I took care of Al for 5 years before I became sick myself. Heaven has sure gained an angel. He will be forever in my heart and forever missed by all that knew him. Al was such an amazing guy. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

I am the daughter of Liz, one of his caregivers. AL was an amazing man. Well cared for. I loved coming to visit him. My mom and my sister, Christine, have taken care of Al for a long time and he has become an important part of my life. He will forever be in my heart and missed dearly.. sorry for your loss.
